About Mia Luna

I am a designer and artist specializing in patterns and prints rooted in nature and informed by Italy’s artistic heritage. With a university education in Fine Art and a Master’s degree in Sustainable Design, my work sits at the intersection of craftsmanship, symbolism, and environmental awareness.
Originally from California and of Italian heritage, I have always been drawn to the depth of skill, material intelligence, and enduring beauty found in Italian design. My creative language is influenced by the spirit of Fortuny’s textiles—rich in symbolism, repetition, and subtle grandeur—reinterpreted through a contemporary lens.
My collections feature koi fish drifting through patterned fields, celestial suns and moons evoking cycles and balance, and hummingbirds and dragonflies introducing lightness and motion. Each design is composed with reverence for history and ornament, while remaining fluid, modern, and alive.
Alongside my artistic practice, I am a certified building technician with a strong connection to sustainable architecture, a discipline I studied at the University of Naples. This technical foundation deeply informs my approach to design, materiality, and longevity.
Finally, my home atelier is built from ancient Roman selenite stone—a coincidental yet powerful connection that continues to influence my work. Grounded quite literally in Italian history, this space serves as both a creative sanctuary and a reminder that tradition, when thoughtfully reimagined, can remain timeless.
